A motor designed around you: together, we will create the ideal motor for your application

In an ever-changing market, customisation is the key to meeting the specific needs of each customer.
At SIMEL, we make custom-designed electric motors that are perfectly suited to our users’ different applications and industrial requirements.

What sets us apart is our ability to listen and understand your needs, working with you to develop construction solutions that not only meet your expectations, but exceed them. With our customer-oriented approach, we act as your technical partner, able to provide you with the motor you are looking for, customised to your specific requirements.

We understand that each customer has unique challenges and, therefore, we work tirelessly to create products that fit seamlessly into their production processes.

Customise your motor: depending on the type, you can adjust, include or exclude the following configuration options

Mechanics

The possibility of adding a cooling fan to motors that are not originally ventilated. This customisation is particularly useful in applications requiring high heat exchange, thus guaranteeing optimal performance even under severe working conditions.

This customisation allows the cooling fan to be removed from motors designed with ventilation. It is ideal for applications where passive cooling is sufficient and where compact motor dimensions are a critical factor.

The Pump Holder is a ‘beak’ component that facilitates the connection between the motor and the pump tube. Although they are usually standard, we can make them to measure, ensuring a perfect fit with your specific application.

The flange is a flat component that allows the motor to be coupled with the target machine. Although there are standard flanges available, our customisation capabilities allow us to make them to your specific requirements.

This customisation involves changing the shape and dimensions of the motor shaft, including aspects such as length, thread, diameter and material. This allows the motor to be adapted to different specific applications, ensuring a precise and functional coupling.

This customisation concerns the electrical connection system, which connects the motor to the power supply. Options may include different connector configurations, depending on your specific needs.

This customisation allows support feet to be added to the motor casing, making it suitable for stable and safe grounding. It is ideal for applications requiring fixed positioning.

We exclusively use water-based paints, which can serve both aesthetic and protective purposes. This customisation not only improves the motor’s appearance, but also helps protect it from environmental factors.

In the motor bearings we manufacture, we use different types of greases, suitable for both low and high temperatures, depending on the intended use of the motor. This customisation ensures optimal operation under varying climatic conditions.

Tropicalisation is an impregnation treatment that is applied to motor windings, protecting the copper from the moisture present in tropical climates. This customisation is essential to ensure the longevity and reliability of the motor in humid environments.

The anti-condensation heater is a heating device installed in the terminal cover of an electric motor, designed to prevent the formation of condensation in humid environments or with large temperature variations. This customisation improves motor reliability by protecting electrical components.

Standard motors have an IP40 degree of protection, but motors with different degrees of protection, up to IP68, are available on request. This customisation is essential for applications in harsh environments, where protection from dust and water is essential.

Electrical

The electrical insulation grade represents the ability of the insulation material to resist the passage of current, providing effective protection against high temperatures and moisture. This characteristic is essential to prevent motor damage and ensure reliable operation over time.
The thermal protector is a pad placed between the motor windings, designed to monitor the internal temperature. In the event of overheating, this device automatically intervenes, interrupting motor operation and protecting critical components from irreversible damage.
The polarity number refers to the number of magnetic pole pairs inside the motor. Typically, we offer motors with 2 or 4 poles, but we can go up to 8 poles, allowing customisation of motor performance and efficiency to specific operational requirements.

Single-phase motors with dual polarity have two separate windings, each generating different rotational torques. This configuration allows adaptation to variable loads, improving the motor’s versatility. In addition, the capacitor bypass relay deactivates the starting capacitor once a certain speed is reached, optimising efficiency and performance during operation.
(for single-phase motors)

Voltage and frequency are a measure of the electrical potential difference in a circuit and are essential for proper motor operation. Voltage is measured in volts (V) and can affect the motor’s overall performance, making this customisation crucial for compatibility with your applications.

Efficiency is a measure of the motor’s ability to convert input energy into useful output energy. It is a crucial parameter for high performance and optimal energy consumption. We offer motors with different efficiency classes, from IE2 to IE3, to meet your needs for sustainability and reduced operating costs.

Power represents the amount of energy converted or transferred per unit of time, and is a key element in correctly sizing the motor according to the application. Measured in watts (W), power directly affects operational performance and system efficiency.

The service of an electric motor specifies its operating conditions over a given period of time, influencing the power and duration of operation. There are different service classes that indicate whether the motor operates continuously or intermittently:

S1 · S2 · S3

S1 (Continuous Duty):The motor runs at constant load for an indefinite period of time until thermal equilibrium
is reached. Unless otherwise indicated, the power quoted in the catalogue refers to this type of service. This is the most common configuration for applications requiring uninterrupted operation.

S2 (Time Limited Service): The motor operates at constant load for a limited period of time, less than that required to reach thermal equilibrium, followed by a rest period sufficient to re-establish ambient temperature. Ideal for applications that do not require continuous operation.

S3 (Intermittent Duty): The motor operates in work and rest cycles, with constant load during the work periods
and sufficient rest to allow cooling. This type of service is suitable for applications with frequent starts, where
the starting current does not significantly affect the motor temperature.

Certifications

Certification is a crucial step in the process of marketing electric motors. It ensures that the motor meets the quality and safety standards required by the different markets. By affixing the certification logo, such as the CE mark for the European market, we guarantee compliance with the regulations in force.

SIMEL is currently organised for the European and American markets, boasting CE and UKCA self-certification,
as well as a UL Certified Laboratory for the US and Canadian markets. Our SIMEL Lab is equipped to carry out
comprehensive tests on motors, guaranteeing the necessary certifications for each specific market. For markets
other than Europe and the USA, samples must be tested in accredited laboratories located in the specific
territory, and we are ready to handle this process with expertise and professionalism.
